“My mission is to support you throughout your journey to creating a sustainable path to health and wellness with the knowledge I’ve gained from my own health concerns and more particularly, those of my family.”
Hello, I’m Jennifer Baum, a Certified Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Practitioner, Certified Bioindividual Nutrition Practitioner, and Certified Holistic Health Coach, practicing functional nutrition at the Functional Nutrition Alliance (FxNA). I am a children’s yoga teacher trained in Radiant Child Yoga For The Differently Abled Child and I have over 10 years of experience working with people with disabilities. I live in Austin, Texas with my husband and two daughters.
While I have been fascinated with healthy living and nutrition since college, it was when I had my own family that I began to focus on the difference that a high quality, organic diet could make for my two growing daughters. Despite my research and investment in a healthy lifestyle, my family encountered a crisis in 2009 when my older daughter began to exhibit symptoms of sudden onset Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It confounded many doctors and ultimately, it was my own research that led us to a diagnosis of PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Disorder Associated with Strep). Our journey continued when approximately two years later she was diagnosed with Juvenile Arthritis and my younger daughter was also diagnosed with PANDAS.
I couldn’t shake the feeling that these disorders were interconnected and began searching for a health professional that could address my daughters’ unique needs. Failing to find that someone, I set out to educate myself about holistic health and nutrition. As I continued my extensive research, I found the work of Andrea Nakayama and the FxNA. In the very first FxNA program I took online I felt an immediate affinity for Andrea’s emphasis on how each person’s individual history, physiology and lifestyle were key in uncovering their path to wellness.
In continued studies with Andrea and the FxNA team, I learned how to connect the dots and uncover the root causes of the disorders my family had been facing and how to support the individual healing process with both my family and my clients.
I have experienced firsthand how important it is to keep digging, to ask questions and to persevere in uncovering what Andrea calls “what’s going on in there?” when faced with a health crisis. I believe it’s possible to uncover the innate healing potential we all possess and I’m passionate about helping others in this process. I strive to work in partnership with my clients to facilitate their understanding of their health challenges, the root physiological causes of their distress and how to support the body in its healing processes. My family and I walk this path everyday and it is my mission to share this deep process of healing with you.
I live in Austin, Texas, with my husband Walt, where we spend our time with our two daughters finding ways to incorporate food, family and laughter into our lives everyday.
